With Phil’s help, I was able to end the semester in honors precalc strong, despite only having started sessions with him a month before winter break! He is extremely knowledgeable in the foundations and principles of math at any level and strives to help me understand the concepts and material rather than just memorize it. He not only creates an understanding environment to learn, but personalizes his teaching to the student in front of him by keeping individualized notes about each session that allow him to seamlessly resume teaching the concepts being reviewed. Using his teachings and notes, it allows me to grasp complex concepts by using them as a reference. Phil’s an amazing teacher to work with and I’m forever grateful I go to him! I had an amazing experience working with Phil during my Math 160 course.

Discrete mathematics is notoriously difficult, and Phil somehow found a way to make it digestible and straightforward. If I ever felt uneasy about a concept, Phil could see that and continued breaking it down until I got it.

It's clear that Phil has a passion for math. Any question, easy or hard, was another learning experience and a rabbit hole for us to dive into. I highly recommend Phil for all math tutoring. Phil tutored my high school junior throughout AP Pre-Calculus. We found Phil to be approachable, kind, accepting, inclusive, and flexible as well as skilled in his field.
He kindly set up a standing weekly appointment for tutoring, but was always willing to schedule extra appointments as needed.  He was able to read my teen and their needs & anxieties each week while helping them break down the coursework and helping to fill in any background gaps in understanding. Dr. G responded quickly over the summer when I needed help with my summer Calc 2 course. He gauged where I was with my math skills and was able to help me with all of my questions! Phil is a great tutor who has recently helped me with MAT119 (College Algebra). He gives clear notes and shows examples that make topics easier to understand. Instead of just showing you how to do it, he explains how it works and makes it interesting. Phil will let you lead the session if you want, but still makes sure you cover everything you need.
